Image usage rules

All work on this site is (c)opyright Harmony Steel. All rights reserved. I allow certain non-commercial use of my work on this site within the following requirements. As long as you follow these requirements you do not need to contact me to ask permission. Please remember that no matter how an image is altered, the copyright remains with me as per Australian and International Copyright Law.

General Requirements
Non-commercial use only. The text "www.treelightstudios.com" must appear on any work created from my images where the copyright label is not visible. Proportional resizing only (do not distort the width or height of an image). Use of my artworks for the promotion of illegal items and activities, hate crimes, pornography, cruelty to animals or other offensive uses is strictly prohibited.

If I buy a print or original work can I reproduce it or use it in my own products?
No, the copyright and reproduction rights for all my work belong to me at all times unless very specific contracts are signed (this includes commissioned artwork). Modifying and reselling any of my artwork or products in another form is prohibited by law.

Can I use your artwork to make user icons for my journal / forum?
Yes provided the use remains non-commercial. There's also some avatar icons already available in the Free Goodies section.

Can I use your artwork for my roleplaying character portrait?
Yes as long as your use is non-commercial, the copyright label remains intact, and you do not use any artwork marked with "exclusive use" as someone else has already paid for the right to use that image.

Can I use your artwork to decorate my website?

Yes, provided:

  • Your website is non-commercial.
  • Your website does not promote illegal items and activities, hate crimes, pornography, or cruelty to animals.
  • You save any artworks you want to use to your hard drive and then upload them to your own web space.

Can I use your artwork to make Tubes?
Yes for personal use ONLY, not to be distributed in any way, especially online. This is because once tubes are distributed online there's no way to tell where the artwork came from, the artist receives no credit for their hard work, and no-one knows what the usage requirements for the artwork are.

Can I use your artwork to create websets and signatures?
Yes, provided your use is non-commercial, and the text "www.treelightstudios.com" appears somewhere on each signature or webset - this text doesn't have to be large but it does need to be clearly visible and readable. Proportional resizing, cropping and feathering is fine.

I saw your artwork somewhere and you weren't credited.
If you see my artwork being used without providing credit and copyright to me please email me. There's no need to contact the person directly as they may have a specific arrangement with me to use the artwork in that manner, but I always appreciate knowing if you see something like this so I can check on it.
